Motherhood Challenge – Day 1

Thank you for joining me on this 7-Day Motherhood Challenge!  I hope you’re ready for a fun week of activities with your children. Of course, since this challenge is designed for busy moms, the activities will not be too hard or time-consuming. I just encourage you to make the most of the time that you have with your children on a daily basis this week.

Here’s the General Plan:

  1. Set aside 30 minutes to an hour every night to complete your challenges.
  2. Feel free to take pictures and share them on your social media platforms with the hashtag #wmdmotherhoodchallenge. I would love to follow along with you all throughout the week, to see the fun things you’re up to with your children!
  3. Grab a notebook, journal or sheet of paper to document your thoughts and feelings during the challenge. What’s going well? What’s not going well? What do you want to keep doing after the challenge is over? How do you feel about it all? I hope that this challenge will be pivotal in your relationship with your kids, and documenting it all will help you to remember this time.
  4. Limit negativity this week. Try to maintain a positive attitude with your kids, without yelling and getting frustrated. Stay attentive to them, and limit the use of technology (phone, tablets, computers) around them. I’m not saying this to be authoritative. I struggle with all of this too, and will make a strong effort to limit the negativity too.

So, let’s get started!

Today’s Challenge:

The first challenge is to READ! Today, I encourage you to set aside time to sit down and read a book with your kids or have them read to you. Also, commit to reading bedtime stories each night during this challenge! Read to those children who are too young to read for themselves or who simply want you to read to them. Allow older kids to read to you. For those with multiple children, you can all sit together and you can watch on as the older kids read to the younger kids! After reading, tuck in your children individually each night, and have a 2-minute conversation with them – it can be about their day, about anything!

Purpose of today’s challenge:

Reading has so many benefits for our children. It stimulates their imagination, exposes them to the world around them, and helps them develop language and listening skills. It is also an excellent way to provide undivided attention to your children and to bond. Having your older kids read to the younger ones also promotes a sense of responsibility and bonding between siblings.

So, get started on your challenge, and remember to tag your posts on social media with #wmdmotherhoodchallenge. I can’t wait to follow along!
