Are you a busy mom who seems to spend a lot of your time grocery shopping? Want to know what works for my household? When I came across online grocery delivery, it was a huge game-changer for me. I’ve tried a few different companies, which I will review here. Along with an in-depth Shipt Grocery Delivery Review. I have 5 kids and a husband and I haven’t gone grocery shopping in a while!
Let me explain…
But first, If you’re a busy working wife and mom, check out my Resource Library for my Dinner Planning Worksheets and all of my awesome working mom resources.
My First Try
Back in 2016, I received a postcard for Walmart Grocery Pick up. At the time, I had been spending about an hour or so in the grocery store. And that was 2-3 times per week , many times with my kids in tow. Anyone who’s been grocery shopping with kids knows how that goes. It’s so hard to focus. The kids end up asking for a ton of things that aren’t on the list. You end up getting all their extras, but forgetting some of the things you actually need! I ended up with higher grocery bills, and still having to go back for what I needed. (Hence the 2-3 grocery trips a week).
So when I got the postcard for Walmart Grocery Pick up, I figured it was worth a try. Plus it came with a coupon for $10 off my first order. It seemed simple. I order my groceries online, set a 1-hour time frame to pick them up, show up, the associates bring the groceries out to the car and load it for me!
I have to admit that I was skeptical at first. Would they get my order right? Will my frozen foods still be frozen? Are my fruits/veggies going to be fresh?
I was pleasantly surprised! My groceries were always in good condition and even better than what I would pick myself. It was rare that I had a missing item. And if it this happen, it was handled quickly. I could either come back and pick the item up or just get the credit to my account. The workers in my local Wal-Mart Grocery Pick Up were always extra-nice, and got to know me by first name! I loved it, while the program was still small and new.
Things Changed
My local Walmart Grocery Pickup seemed to get too busy after about 2 years. I would arrive to pick up my order, and there would be 4+ cars ahead of me waiting. A wait that used to be less than 5 minutes, was up to 30 minutes at this point. I was no longer saving much time, so the service was no longer benefiting me quite as much. (This was my experience at my local Walmart. Yours may be very different, so I still encourage you to give it a try.)
Ideally, it’s a great, convenient, and FREE service, possibly with better results if you’re in a smaller community. This is my Walmart Grocery Pick Up referral link if you’re interested: http://r.wmt.co/msF0y. With this link, you’ll receive $10 off your first order of $50+. My family will receive $10 off as well.
Next try: Grocery Delivery
Because I now dreaded going shopping inside the grocery store, I needed to find another option for groceries. Walmart Grocery Delivery service came about at this time, and I tried it once with a free delivery code. It was convenient, but I didn’t continue because but their regular price is $10 per delivery. I thought that was a bit excessive!
I also used Instacart’s grocery delivery service briefly. But, I realized their prices were marked up way above the regular store price for just about everything.
Then Came Shipt
I started using Shipt Grocery Delivery in December of 2017, and have fallen in love with it! The regular price is $99 for an annual subscription, but I received a special promo for $49, with unlimited deliveries. What I love about Shipt above Instacart is that I can have my groceries delivered from Target. And that means I can get Target prices! They also have tons of specials within the app, so I’ve saved quite a bit that way. The best part is that I don’t have to go anywhere. I also don’t have to plan too far in advance for my groceries like I did with Walmart Grocery pick up. I can order my groceries online and have them delivered to my house within 2 hours!
Never did I think I’d be one to order groceries online. But now I’m hooked! There are so many reasons why I recommend this for any busy mom. I’ll share them here in my brief Shipt Grocery Delivery Review:
Saves Time
I no longer waste hours walking the aisles of the grocery store, trying to make sure I have everything. I don’t have to worry about missing something and making another trip the next day! As I remember things, I just add them to my cart throughout the day. Then, I place my order when I’m ready. Since I follow a Dinner Planning Rotation, I have a rotating grocery list, which makes it easier to make sure I have what I need on hand each week. I highly recommend this for any busy mom! It helps me save time for other, more rewarding things, like spending time with my kids and hubby.

Saves Money
By not walking through the grocery store, I don’t waste money picking up things that I never planned to get! The one downside is that you can’t use printed coupons with Shipt. But the service always has specials on things we use. If there’s a really good outside promotion or coupon I want to take advantage of, I sacrifice and make my way to the store for it.
Convenience
Above anything else, the service is just convenient. There is no driving to the grocery store, walking through the aisles, waiting in line to pay, loading the groceries into the car, and unloading them from the car when I get home. The only thing we have to do is unload the groceries into the fridge or pantry once they’re delivered to us. (And my kids usually handle that!)
Here’s my Shipt referral link if you’re interested: http://share.shipt.com/pqScr. You’ll get $50 off of your annual membership by using this link, and my family will receive a Shipt credit.
There you have it! My Shipt Grocery Delivery Review. This truly has been life-changing and time-saving for me, and hope it will be for you too! I really encourage you to give either service a try. I promise you won’t want to go back to walking the aisles!
