Having a hard time finding gifts for your kids' teachers? Here's a practical idea teachers love - Teacher Appreciation Classroom Supply Baskets!

Last year, my kids and I decided on something different for Teacher Appreciation Week. Traditionally, their elementary school sent out a suggested list of small gifts for the teachers for each day of the week. We’ve typically followed that list, or given generic gift cards and thank you notes to the teachers. But last year we decided to be a bit more practical by giving Classroom Supply Baskets. The teachers loved these baskets so much that we’re repeating them again this year. I’m passing on this idea to you in case it’s something that you could find useful for your teachers!

Suggested items for the baskets:

  • A storage bin to hold everything, that can also be reused in the classroom
  • Large Cellophane gift bag to wrap it all up
  • Bow (just for decoration!)
  • Gift card (Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Target, Walmart, Staples, Office Depot, or our local school supply store) – My kids picked the gift cards for their teachers, based on what they knew they liked. Raise.com is an awesome site to get discounted physical and e-gift cards.
  • Sharpies
  • Pens
  • Pencils
  • Dry erase markers
  • Markers
  • Highlighters
  • Post-it Notes
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Clorox wipes
  • Tissue
  • Glue sticks/glue
  • Construction Paper
  • Tape
  • Staples
  • Stapler
  • Pencil Sharpener
  • Scissors
  • Paper clips
  • Thumb Tacks

Of course, we didn’t put all of these supplies in one basket. The supplies varied based on the teacher, and the grade level.

We also included fun (cheesy!) tags on some items:

  • Glue/Tape: “I’m STUCK on you”
  • Highlighters: “I’m so BRIGHT because of you”
  • Markers: “You are ReMARKable”
  • Scissors: “You’re a CUT above the rest”
  • Sharpener: “You make me SHARP”
